Bike route through Valencia’s old town
Valencia’s old town, Ciutat Vella, is just across the riverbed, a few minutes from our shop. This route goes round it on the cycle ring —the bike lane on the inner ring road, where the old city wall used to run— and takes you in to the Central Market and the Town Hall Square. It’s the short way to see monumental Valencia without getting lost in the narrowest streets.
The route
From Guadalaviar 3 it’s a 7.0 km loop, about 40 minutes of riding not counting stops. You cross the riverbed on the Pont de Fusta to the Serranos Towers and follow the cycle ring west to the Quart Towers, two of the medieval wall’s gates still standing. From there you ride in to the Central Market and the Town Hall Square, on to the Colón Market and the Aragón bridge, and back to the shop along the edge of the Turia riverbed on the cycle ring.

Where to take care
Between the Quart Towers and the Market, and in the Town Hall Square, the route leaves the bike lane and goes through streets busy with people on foot, where pedestrians have priority. Ride slowly there and, if it’s crowded —especially in the morning around the Market— get off and push the bike for a few metres. Most of the rest of the route runs on the cycle ring.
Which duration to book
It’s about 40 minutes of riding, so 4 hours (€8.99 on a city bike, within opening hours) leaves time to go into the Central Market, climb the Serranos Towers and stop for a drink. If you want to take your time at the Cathedral, the Silk Exchange or a museum, the full day (€12.00) means you don’t have to watch the clock — it’s due back that same evening, before closing: 19:00 Monday–Friday; no full-day rentals on Saturdays.
Which bike to take
The city bike is the most practical here: it’s light, easy to handle at low speed and you can park it anywhere. The electric city bike adds little on such a short, flat route. With small children, the Turia Gardens route is a better choice for this area, as it runs entirely through the park: the LE20 cargo bike is wider and more comfortable in the riverbed than in the old town.
Where to stop
The Central Market opens in the morning and is the natural stop for a snack or some fruit; the Silk Exchange is right opposite. There are bike racks around the main squares. The lock is included with the rental; we recommend securing the frame, not just the wheel, and not leaving anything in the basket.
Combining routes
The old town pairs well with the Turia Gardens: from the Aragón bridge just drop down into the riverbed and carry on to the City of Arts. With the full day you can do the old town in the morning and the park in the afternoon.
