Bike route to the City of Arts and Sciences

The City of Arts and Sciences is built right in the old Turia riverbed, at its final stretch. That has one practical consequence if you’re on a bike: you get there without leaving the park, on the same path, without crossing a single street with heavy traffic.

The route

From Guadalaviar 3 it’s 5.2 km to the complex, about 23 minutes of easy riding, with 62 metres of elevation gain. The path runs down the riverbed under the historic bridges, passes the Palau de la Música and comes out at the pools, with the Hemisfèric, the Museu de les Ciències and the Àgora on either side.

You can ride all the way round the complex on the perimeter paths, and from there continue to the end of the riverbed or turn towards the sea.

Which duration to book

It’s the shortest of the four routes, so it fits comfortably into 4 hours (€8.99 on a city bike, within opening hours), even with stops for photos. If the plan is to go into one of the museums or the Oceanogràfic and leave the bike parked for a while, the full day (€12.00) means you don't have to watch the clock — it's due back that same evening, before closing: 19:00 Monday–Friday; no full-day rentals on Saturdays.

Which bike to take

Any of ours works. The city bike is the logical pick on price; the electric city bike makes sense if you’re extending afterwards to the beach or south. With children, the riverbed route is one of the safest in the city, and for the little ones there’s the cargo bike LE20.

Parking the bike there

There are bike racks around the complex. The lock is included with the rental; we recommend securing the frame, not just the wheel, and not leaving anything in the basket while you’re inside.

Combining routes

This route pairs well with the full Turia Gardens route — the stretch to the City of Arts is its final section — and it’s the natural starting point for the long ride out to the Albufera.

What you see from the bike

Without setting foot in a single building, the ride already justifies itself: the pools reflect the complex’s white structures, and you can ride the whole perimeter by bike. The Umbracle sits up above the car park, and from its level you see the whole complex; the Àgora and the l’Assut de l’Or bridge close off the eastern end.

If you’re going into the museums

Here the rental duration decides itself: a visit to the Museu de les Ciències or the Oceanogràfic leaves the bike parked for several hours, and then 4 hours falls short. With the full day the bike waits for you and doesn’t shape the plan. We don’t sell tickets or manage museum bookings — just the bike.

Who this short route suits

It’s what we recommend for a first ride in Valencia if you’re short on time: in under an hour of easy pedalling you see the whole complex and get back with plenty of time to spare. It’s also the route we’re most often asked to combine with another — being short, almost nobody books it alone on the full-day rate, unless the plan includes a museum.

Continuing to the port

From the City of Arts the riverbed continues a few more minutes to the Desembocadura park and the port area, where it links up with the seafront. It’s the stretch that turns this short route into the way to the beach without turning back.
